Sephora Sale Haul

The Sephora sale hit a little earlier than usual this year which seems to be the trend across all retailers lately.  I’ve really scaled back on buying makeup over the years for a handful of reasons- namely, I like a more natural look, I’ve never been good at doing my own makeup and I’ve gotten better at resisting cute packaging (I’m looking at you all of my adorable but unused eyeshadow palettes). The three tiers at Sephora are Insider (free to join), VIB (spend $350+ per year) and Rogue (spend $1,000+ per year) and I hadn’t even hit VIB status before this sale!  I used the sale as an opportunity to stock up on what I use daily. I like having a backup of every product on hand in case I run low on something so I don’t have to stress about getting to a store to grab a refill.  I did decide to try a few new to me products which you’ll see below and I also snuck in one item that I picked up at Blue Mercury.

1. Kosas Lipstick in Rosewater – This is a really neutral pink shade of lipstick that, when applied, looks like your natural lips but slightly more polished.

2. Ouai Texturizing Hair Spray – I was getting ready for an event last weekend and when I finished blow drying my hair I went to grab some hairspray to keep everything in place but I realized I was either completely out or I haven’t moved what I had remaining from my dad’s house yet… so it was time to pick up a new bottle!

3. Beauty Blender – This is a pretty basic item that I use to apply my foundation.  It makes the foundation so even and is totally worth it.  I go through a ton of these a year.

4. Too Faced Lady Bold Cream Lipstick – I’ve been liking lipsticks instead of the liquid lipsticks I used to wear.  They’re lighter, they wear better throughout the day, and they don’t leave my lips feeling dry.  I’ve been looking for a nice bold red to replace the MAC color I wore in my college years and I’m hoping this one delivers.

5.  Sephora Collection Retractable Waterproof Eyeliner – This is another staple product for me.  When Marc Jacobs discontinued their gel eyeliner I was devastated, but I’ve found that the Sephora one is a pretty good (and cheaper) replacement.  I need something retractable- the last thing I feel like doing is sharpening an eyeliner pencil. And I love the way this one glides on.

6. Laura Mercier Ultra-Blur Translucent Loose Setting Powder – This is the new product I’m going to be trying! I always used Too Faced setting powder that was part of their peach line but since it’s been discontinued I need to find a replacement. I’m kind of hoping and not hoping this one works out for me since I need something, but this one is on the expensive side.  It does last for a long time, so that’s the only way I’ll be able to convince myself to keep buying it if I like it.

7. NARS Blush in Orgasm – This is another classic.  I’ve been using this blush and lip gloss color since I was in high school.  I remember reading an interview where Paris Hilton said she used it and I picked it up shortly after.  So funny!

8. Too Faced Fluff & Hold Laminating Brow Wax – I needed something new for my eyebrows so I’m going to give this product a try.  I’m hoping I’ll like it better than the Benefit brow gel I currently use.

9. Bobbi Brown Lipstick in Sandwash Pink – This is the one item I bought at Blue Mercury since Sephora doesn’t have it.  Again, just looking for neutral pink shades that look like my natural lips.  I heard this is the exact lipstick Kate Middleton wore at her wedding so I decided to give it a go.  I absolutely love it! It wears well, feels hydrating and I love the way it looked on me.  I’ll definitely be picking up more when I run out.
